What actually matters: the title, description, canonical and viewport tags do real work. So do Open Graph tags, for sharing. The keywords meta tag has been ignored by Google since 2009, which is why this tool does not generate one.

Your meta tags

<meta charset="utf-8" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1" />
<meta name="robots" content="index, follow, max-image-preview:large" />

<!-- Open Graph — used by Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and most messengers -->
<meta property="og:type" content="website" />

<!-- X / Twitter card -->
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary" />

Paste these inside the <head> of your page.

How to use this tool

  1. Fill in your title, description and canonical URL.
  2. Add a share image if you want link previews to show one.
  3. Toggle Open Graph and card tags depending on what you need.
  4. Copy the block into the head of your page.

What is Meta Tags Generator?

Meta tags live in the head of an HTML document and describe the page to browsers, search engines and social platforms. Only a handful still matter, but those few do real work.

The rest are folklore. The keywords meta tag has been ignored by Google since 2009. Tags like "revisit-after" and "distribution" have never done anything. A generator that emits them is padding its output.

Best practices

  • Every page needs a unique title and description.
  • Set a self-referencing canonical on every page unless it is a genuine duplicate of another.
  • Add an Open Graph image at 1200×630 — links without one look broken when shared.
  • X falls back to Open Graph, so card tags are only needed for finer control.
  • Use noindex deliberately and sparingly. It is easy to leave on a page by accident.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need the keywords meta tag?

No. Google stopped using it in 2009 and has said so publicly. It does nothing for ranking and tells competitors exactly what you are targeting, which is why this tool does not generate one.

What size should the Open Graph image be?

1200×630 pixels is the widely used standard and renders correctly on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and X. Use an absolute URL — relative paths do not work for social crawlers.

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter card tags?

Not usually. X falls back to Open Graph when card tags are absent. Add card tags when you want a different image or title on X specifically.

Want this done properly on your site?

These tools handle the checks. If you would rather someone did the work — the audit, the fixes and the content — that is what I do.
