Website Maintenance

Updates, backups, monitoring and security — handled quietly.

Uptime monitoring with alerting

Backups restored, not just taken

Monthly

Health, speed and security reporting

What this actually involves

Websites decay. Dependencies pick up security advisories, performance drifts as content is added, forms quietly stop delivering email, and nobody notices until a customer mentions it — or until the site is down on your busiest day.

Maintenance is the unglamorous work that prevents all of that. Updates applied and tested, backups taken and actually restored to verify they work, uptime watched around the clock, and a short monthly report so you can see the site is healthy without having to ask.

A good fit if you are

How it works

The process, step by step

No black boxes — you always know what stage we are at and what comes next.

  1. Onboarding audit

A full review of the current state: dependency versions, security advisories, backup arrangements, performance and any lurking errors.

  2. Stabilise

Anything urgent fixed first, backups configured and verified by an actual restore, and monitoring put in place.

  3. Routine care

Scheduled dependency and security updates, applied to a staging copy and tested before they reach production.

  4. Support

A direct channel for bug reports and small content or design changes, with agreed response times.

  5. Monthly report

What was updated, uptime achieved, performance trend, and anything worth planning for.

Website Maintenance — common questions

What counts as a small change?

Content edits, image swaps, adding a page from an existing template, minor styling tweaks and bug fixes. New features or redesigns are quoted separately so you are never surprised by an invoice.

Do you maintain sites you did not build?

Yes, after an onboarding audit. Occasionally that audit finds a site in a state where maintenance would cost more than a rebuild — I will tell you plainly if that is the case.

What happens if the site goes down?

Monitoring alerts me directly, usually before you notice. Response times are set out in the agreement, and restoring from a verified backup is a routine operation rather than an emergency.

Can I cancel?

Monthly, with no notice period. You keep all backups, credentials and documentation.
