What is Local Business Schema Generator?
LocalBusiness markup describes a business tied to a physical place: its address, hours, contact details and the area it serves. For a business that earns revenue locally, it is the most valuable structured data you can add.
Its real job is corroboration. Search engines cross-reference the details here against your Google Business Profile, your citations and your website. When everything agrees, confidence rises — and confidence is a large part of local ranking.
Best practices
- Name, address and phone must match your Google Business Profile character for character.
- Use the most specific type available — Dentist rather than LocalBusiness — but only if it is accurate.
- Add geo coordinates. They resolve ambiguity where addresses are inconsistent.
- Keep opening hours current; stale hours in markup contradict your profile.
- List your social profiles in sameAs so search engines can connect them to you.
- Multiple locations need separate markup on separate location pages, not one combined block.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need this if I already have a Google Business Profile?
They serve different purposes and reinforce each other. Your profile is what Google shows in the map pack; the markup on your site confirms the same facts from a source you control. Consistency between them is the point.
What if I have no physical address?
A service-area business can omit the street address and describe the areas served instead. Do not invent an address — a mismatch with your Business Profile causes more harm than the missing field.
Which business type should I choose?
The most specific one that genuinely describes the business. A more specific type conveys more, but an inaccurate one is worse than the generic LocalBusiness.
Where should this markup go?
Your home page or contact page, whichever a visitor would treat as the business’s main page. For multiple locations, put location-specific markup on each location page.
